Welcome to Mental Health Missions I Course,
This introductory course is for professionals, community leaders, lay persons, caregivers, and others who seek basic knowledge in mental health missions. In this 7 week course, you will learn:
- Indicators of being called to mental health missions. Key roles and responsibilities of mental health missions workers.
- Mind, body, spirit holistic approach to mental health. Concepts of hope and healing, past and present.
- Principles of personal personal advocacy and systems of advocacy. Basic tools for mental health missions integration in various settings.
- Therapeutic missions skills. Basic tools for mental health missions.
- Mental health mission ethics. Ethics, boundaries, confidentiality, reporting.
- Common symptoms of mental illness and substance use. Opioid use disorder.
- Learn the importance of self and family care while engaging in mental health missions.
- Gender identity and trauma-informed mental health missions. Healing language and documentation.
- Self-care and the use of ongoing supports. Overcoming stress in mental health missions.
This introductory course is the first of a two part series. Individuals who successfully complete mental health missions courses I and II will be eligible to sit for a written exam.Upon passing the exam with a score of 80% or more, learners will have shown proficiency in mental health missions core competencies and will be offered certification as a Mental health Missions/Mental Health Coaching through Finding Solutions International and will be authorized to function with all rights and privileges as a mental health missions worker/mental health coach.
